aThe MFWO Experience

From our first contact with you, we are always available to answer questions and help you with trip planning. We pride ourselves on customer service and want to make sure that your Middle Fork trip exceeds all of your expectations. If this is your first visit to Idaho, you may want to take advantage of nearby attractions on your trip…we can offer lots of help there, too.

A trip with Middle Fork Wilderness Outfitters ensures that, first and foremost, your trip will be a safe one. All of our guides are certified in First Aid, CPR and Swift Water Rescue. In addition, we have soooooo many years of experience between us, most of which are on the Middle Fork. Since the Middle Fork is the only river we run we are passionate about making sure our guests have an experience that is first class all the way.

The culinary experience.

Let’s face it…. good food matters. After a long day of whitewater action, exploration and fresh mountain air, we believe that the quality of our meals should match such an incredible setting. We take great pride in our menu at MFWO, sourcing local foods and ingredients whenever possible. We take food handling, preparation and presentation seriously and as a result, have crafted a menu that is… seriously delicious. Our guides are well-seasoned chefs, preparing meals using Dutch oven style cooking and campfire grilling and they work hard to create a river dining experience you will savor.

Our dinner menu includes mouth-watering fare such as grilled salmon with wild rice, Dutch oven lasagna, and our famous fried chicken (just to name a few). Lunches include delicious and fresh salads, sandwiches, fruits and home-made cookies. Breakfast highlights cinnamon rolls, Dutch oven eggs Benedict, apple cake, pancakes and savory grilled meats. Of course, each night we also serve appetizers as well as desserts like chocolate brownies and ice cream, warm apple crisp, and pineapple upside down cake.

We carry and serve plenty of drinks, including juice, coffee, tea or hot chocolate at breakfast; juices, lemonade and/or water for lunch; and a selection of wine and beer with dinner.

We also understand that individuals and families may have medical dietary needs and are happy to accommodate any special requests.

Good food does matter! Each season we work closely with two local food partners to not only ensure the best flavors during your trip, but also to share the economic opportunities the river outfitting world can offer small rural towns like Salmon, Idaho. We take community building just as seriously as our menu.

Feel free to check out our local food partners at swiftriverfarm.org and oddfellowsbakery.com.

Middle Fork Camping

After a day of fun on the river, you’ll arrive at our Middle Fork camp around 4:30 or so, leaving plenty of time to explore the surrounding area on your own, or simply sit and relax while our guides and crew do what they do best…make sure your time in camp is just as special as your time on the river.

Tables and chairs are ready and waiting when you arrive at camp, and tents are set up with cots provided for a comfortable night’s sleep. While we provide freshly laundered sleeping bags, you are certainly welcome to bring your own, if you prefer. Guests will sleep comfortably with 2 to a tent while singles will have a tent to themselves. After a delicious dinner, fun and games on the beach, entertaining camp stories and maybe even a little music around the campfire, you’ll be ready to fall asleep to the sounds of the river.
